Up to nine women are diagnosed with breast cancer daily in New Zealand. Tragically, nearly two women will lose the battle every single day.
Our family has been deeply affected by breast cancer. Penny was diagnosed with breast cancer at age 34 and then again at 43, and Maree was recently diagnosed with breast cancer in July 2019 at age 30. The women before us were not so lucky but we are a family of fighters and think that this walk is a great way to celebrate that.
We have been surrounded by the most incredible support group and health professionals, and are grateful for high risk screening and access to fully funded treatment options. So, it is time for us to give back to the Breast Cancer Foundation, an organisation that has given so much to breast cancer fighters and their families, but we need your help. Any amount will be hugely appreciated and gratefully received!
The money raised from our walk will be used to fund vital research projects, promote early detection and support New Zealanders recovering from and living with breast cancer. It is so easy to forget how precious it is to be alive and your contribution honors and supports those who have fought, are fighting, or yet to fight breast cancer.
